Special Recognition

Special Recognition of Custodial Operations Staff

This page has special meaning to us and to the entire Custdial Line Staff. Represented here are awards for outstanding service presented to a Custodial Staff member by a department or organization other than their own department.

We think you'll agree these awards and KUDOS mean so very much to the folks that dedicate themselves to keeping this University clean and green!

Thank you to all who took the time to honor a staff member.

Staff Council Honors Rodrigo Rodriguez

The Staff Council’s work is fairly self-explanatory, to strive to improve Texas State University and the work life of those who are employed here.  Every year they honor employees who go above and beyond their required duties. This year was no exception. Staff Council took time from their many projects to honor a few of their own.  But, this year, an additional award category was created; one for Outstanding Custodial Service. We are pleased to announce that the recipient of this award is our own, Rodrigo Rodriguez.  He was touched and honored to accept it from President Denise Trauth.

Rodrigo works on the Midnight Stars Team – that’s the 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm Custodial Shift. Beginning his career in 1999, there are so many people who have come to know Rodrigo. Even though he works a shift that begins when most of us are going home, he still manages to make a lasting and positive impression on so many people. Rarely do you see Rodrigo Rodriguez not smiling. He is a happy, upbeat man who goes about his work with pride, courtesy to all and a unique friendliness that draws you in. Today that smile might have been mixed with a few tears, but they were happy tears as he accepted an award for all his hard work and his wonderful attitude.

Now we know Rodrigo and we know he would have been happy with just the award certificate but Staff Council also presented him with a monetary award and a surprise. This new award will be given annually to a deserving employee and it will henceforth be known as the Rodrigo Rodriguez Outstanding Custodial Award! We’re smiling for you Rodrigo but we’re also wiping a few happy tears away because we are so very proud of you.
